Push the boundaries of animation by experimenting with multiple media and filmmaking techniques. In this studio-style course, students will explore animation as an expressive art form—combining drawing, objects, puppetry, 3D elements, and live-action footage to create imaginative moving images. Students will experiment with techniques such as stop motion, pixilation (live-action frame-by-frame animation), and mixed-media storytelling. Emphasis is placed on creative risk-taking, problem-solving, and discovering personal visual styles. While animation fundamentals are reinforced, the focus is on experimentation, process, and originality rather than traditional narratives. The course concludes with a showcase celebrating bold ideas and innovative animated work.
