In this high-energy summer intercession course, students are introduced to the fundamentals of improvisation and acting through movement, voice, imagination, and collaborative play. The class creates a supportive and creative environment where students build confidence, express ideas, and take creative risks while working as an ensemble.
Students explore basic acting vocabulary and skills, through a variety of age-appropriate improv games and theater exercises, students practice spontaneity, teamwork, problem-solving, and clear communication. Activities emphasize imagination, quick thinking, and respect for others’ ideas while reinforcing essential performance skills such as staying in character, responding authentically, and making strong creative choices.
Throughout the week, students collaborate to apply their learning by creating short improvised scenes and structured skits. The course culminates in a brief informal presentation for families, where students showcase selected improv games and short performances, celebrating their growth, creativity, and confidence on stage.
