Language and Literature: Incoming Grade 6 students read and analyze a shared novel, annotating key passages and maintaining a journal to explore plot, character development, and theme. Students strengthen analytical writing by using textual evidence to support a claim and review grammar and sentence structure. MLA format is introduced, and reinforced. This course fulfills the summer reading requirement while preparing students for Middle School expectations.
Instructor: Adam Goehle
Mathematics: PRE-ALGEBRA, GRADE 6: Students reinforce core math skills while being introduced to Pre-Algebra concepts, including operations with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and integers. Instruction emphasizes problem-solving, order of operations, and one-step equations, with engaging tasks that help students apply the skills they practice. This course will complete the required Pre-Algebra summer math packet to ensure readiness for Grade 6.
