Incoming Grade 2 students deepen reading, writing, and math skills through structured, engaging instruction. In reading, students work in small groups with fiction and nonfiction texts to build accuracy, fluency, and comprehension. Word study and targeted phonics instruction support decoding, while discussions and written responses strengthen understanding. In writing, students grow as independent authors through narrative and informational writing, focusing on planning, organization, and writing conventions. Math instruction reinforces key Grade 2 skills such as fact fluency, place value, two-digit addition and subtraction, and telling time. Hands-on activities and collaborative centers support engagement and confidence.
