Practice Dates: 12/6, 12/13, 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, 2/7, 2/14 SMART Athletic Performance Training – Grades 4-8 – $210 Focusing on sports performance, conditioning, confidence building, and injury prevention, the SMART program is designed to help students develop foundational athleticism through dynamic training for flexibility, foot speed, coordination, agility, explosive power, linear speed, acceleration, body control, and sport-specific conditioning. These components for enhancing athletic performance in young, developing athletes are critical to maximizing athletic potential, building confidence, reducing the risk of injury, and ultimately preparing them for the greater demands of club and high school sports and competition. On-field workouts will include the following: Dynamic Warm Up and Stretching; Base Movement Training (to develop change of direction); Form Running Drills to improve Sprint Mechanics; Foot Speed Drills using low hurdles, agility ladder, line hops, etc.; Plyometrics; Reaction Drills; Cone Agilities; Resisted Speed Drills such as resisted sprints and backpedals; and Energy System Development (ESD) – end of workout conditioning.
