In this hand-on week, the students will spend each day learning the fundamentals of baking. They will practice cookies by like shortbread, chocolate chip, coconut macaroons, and jam thumbprints. They will also develop their muscles kneading dough to make several kinds of bread. Next they will get out the rolling pin to make pies and tarts. Finally, they’ll explore cakes like flourless chocolate and seashell-shaped madeleines. At the end of the week, the students will open Mary’s Bakery to serve their creations to family and friends.
