Students will explore styles and techniques of famous artists who hail from different countries around the world, experimenting with a variety of paints and surfaces (including white and black canvases, pre-gessoed boards, papers, and fabrics) to bring their creations to life! Artists studied include Mexico’s Frida Kahlo, Henri Matisse of France, Amedeo Modigliani of Italy, and Jack Butler Yeats of Ireland. We will also view pieces from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “KIMONO” exhibition, and will make a work of art inspired by that show! Open to students in Grades One through Eight, as each child will work at his/her own level, and will be inspired and encouraged by one another.
